My Gear
I'm not an elite so I do not have sponsors, but I get the opportunity to try out a lot of different gear. Below are some of my favorite items for training and racing.
Petzl Myo XP - My favorite headlamp hands down
Montrail Mountain Masochist - Not the lightest (or heaviest) shoe out there but has got me though many a race without issue.
La Sportiva Crosslite 2.0 - A little lighter and lower heel drop (8mm) than the Masochist (10mm). Great for the slop
DryMax Light Trail socks - ankle usually but if the trail is messy, I'll use the taller ones
Rudy Project Ekynox SX - White with blue racing lenses. I have a small face and these fit great. *I'm a Rudy Project MVP so I get a discount on these but not for free.
Amphipod Hydraform Thermal-Lite - I carry handhelds about 90% of the time. After several year using Ultiamte Direction handhelds, I switched to these. The strap holds secure and the insulated sleeve makes for a soft grip, especially with sweaty hands.
The North Face Verto Jacket - Apparently this is not made anymore but its a sweet jacket. 30's with light rain and you are good to go with this 3.2 ouncer. If you can't find this model anywhere do yourself a favor and snag a superlight windshirt, it's a worthy investment.
